India will face Sri Lanka in the men’s cricket semifinal at the Asian Games 2026 on October 1, after rain washed out the remaining quarterfinals on September 29.

Sri Lanka’s quarterfinal against Nepal and Bangladesh’s against Malaysia were both abandoned without a ball bowled at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin. As the higher-ranked sides, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh moved into the semifinals. All four quarterfinals were washed out, with India progressing over Afghanistan and Pakistan over Hong Kong on Monday.

Bangladesh will face Pakistan in the first semifinal, followed by the Shreyas Iyer-led India against Sri Lanka. India are the defending champions from Hangzhou 2023, and the women’s team has already defended its title by beating Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the final.

If the semifinals are also washed out, the higher-ranked teams will progress. The final is scheduled for October 3, and a washed-out final would see the gold medal shared.
