India beat Pakistan by 19 runs to defend Asian Games gold

India beat Pakistan by 19 runs in the men’s cricket final at the Asian Games 2026 in Nisshin on Saturday. The win defended India’s gold medal and completed a golden double with the women’s team.

India won the toss and chose to bat first. Abhishek Sharma smashed 61 off 28 balls, reaching his fifty in 20 balls. It was the fastest fifty by an Indian against Pakistan in T20 internationals.

Tilak Varma stayed unbeaten on 51 off 22 balls. His late hitting took India to 211 for 6, the highest total of the Aichi-Nagoya Games. Shivam Dube added 27 off 15 balls.

Pakistan finished on 192 for 6 in 20 overs. Hasan Nawaz played a defiant knock of 96 off 51 balls. But he got little support from the other end.

Jasprit Bumrah kept the scoring tight. Spinner Axar Patel removed Usman Khan and Maaz Sadaqat to slow the chase. Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 63 runs earlier to take bronze.

India’s women had won gold on September 22 after beating Sri Lanka by 147 runs in their final.
