India beat Pakistan in Asian Games cricket final

India beat Pakistan by 19 runs in the Asian Games men’s cricket final at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin on Saturday, completing a golden double for the country.
India piled up 211 for 6, the highest total of the Aichi-Nagoya Games. Opener Abhishek Sharma smashed 61 off 28 balls with seven sixes. Tilak Varma finished 51 not out off 22 balls. Pakistan managed only 192 for 6 in reply.
Hasan Nawaz fought almost alone for Pakistan with a defiant 96 off 51 balls. He got little support as India’s bowlers kept control. Axar Patel, Washington Sundar and Shivam Dube took two wickets each. Jasprit Bumrah kept the early overs tight.
Abhishek’s 20-ball fifty was the fastest by an Indian against Pakistan in T20 internationals. Pakistan’s Saad Masood was pulled from the attack after his first over went for 24.
Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 63 runs to take the bronze medal. India’s women had already won gold on September 22, beating Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the final. The victory defends the men’s title India won at Hangzhou in 2022. It comes two years before cricket returns to the Olympics at Los Angeles 2028.
