Kamboj debuts, Siraj returns as India bat in 3rd ODI vs West Indies

India captain Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to bat first in the third and final ODI against the West Indies at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh on Saturday.

The hosts, already 2-0 up in the series, handed an ODI debut to 25-year-old fast bowler Anshul Kamboj. He flew in as an injury replacement for Prasidh Krishna, who was ruled out with a left hamstring niggle suffered in Guwahati, and received his cap from Virat Kohli.

Senior pacer Mohammed Siraj returned to the XI in place of the injured Prasidh, while seam-bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy replaced Ravindra Jadeja. Kamboj slotted in at No. 8 in place of Auqib Nabi.

West Indies made three changes, bringing in Jewel Andrew, Matthew Forde and Gudakesh Motie for Keacy Carty, Roston Chase and Shamar Joseph. Gill won the toss for the third straight time and said India wanted to set a total after chasing in the first two games, including a record 406-run chase in Guwahati. The match marks the venue’s men’s ODI debut.
