Harry Kane said on Friday that his contract talks with Bayern Munich “are going well… progressing in the right way,” and that he expects a decision “over the next month or so” that “will be a positive one,” according to ESPN and Sky Sports. He made the remarks while on England duty.

Kane’s current deal runs until next summer. Barcelona are among the clubs monitoring his situation as they search for a successor to Robert Lewandowski, per talkSPORT reporting carried by football-espana, but Bayern are keen to keep him and the expectation is that he extends his stay in Bavaria.

The 33-year-old joined Bayern from Tottenham for a fee of around €120 million, ESPN reported. He has scored 152 goals in 154 appearances for the club and recently became the fastest player to reach 100 Bundesliga goals, in Bayern’s 7-0 win over Union Berlin. He is also considered a Ballon d’Or favourite.

A renewal would settle months of speculation about Kane’s future.

The striker’s decision will shape the transfer market for Europe’s elite clubs next summer.
