Hardik Pandya trade saga unresolved as MI stays undecided

The Hardik Pandya trade saga remains unresolved, with conflicting reports on whether Mumbai Indians will move their captain ahead of IPL 2027. An October 1 report said trade talks had collapsed and MI would retain the 32-year-old all-rounder.
But the latest update says Mumbai Indians are undecided, with discussions involving Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings still at a preliminary stage. No concrete offer has been confirmed from any side, and deals are expected to be finalised only by the end of the year.
An MI official told Sportstar the franchise is not engaged in trade conversations while a post-season review is on. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan likewise said no decision has been taken on any player trade.
Pandya rejoined MI in 2024 and took over the captaincy from Rohit Sharma. MI finished ninth in IPL 2026, in which Pandya played 10 matches, scoring 206 runs and taking 4 wickets. He is currently at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, working toward full fitness.
