Golden Knights Beat Blackhawks 5-2 in Ryan Craig’s Debut
The Vegas Golden Knights beat the Chicago Blackhawks 5-2 on September 30 in Ryan Craig's first game as head coach.
Craig, who replaced Bruce Cassidy, watched his new team deliver a strong performance. Jack Eichel had a goal and two assists, taking his career points tally past the 700 mark. Rookie Trevor Connelly scored in his NHL debut.
Patrick Kane scored for Vegas on his return to Chicago, his first game in the city since February 2023. The former Blackhawks star received a warm reception from the home crowd.
Chicago played without Connor Bedard, who is out until November with a shoulder injury. The Golden Knights look to build on the win as Craig begins his tenure behind the bench.
Craig said he was pleased with the team's energy in his first game in charge. Vegas will now prepare for a home stand as the new coach settles into the job. Connelly's debut goal made him one of the youngest scorers in franchise history.
