Leicestershire Get Eight Points Back in Pitch Appeal

Leicestershire have had eight points reinstated from a 27-point deduction. The sanction followed a poor pitch in their August win over Glamorgan. The deduction has now been reduced to 19 points.
The Foxes were docked points after the Grace Road pitch was rated poor. Match referee Ian Ramage logged 43 examples of uneven bounce. Leicestershire had won the match by 42 runs.
Groundsman Callum Lewin blamed an unscheduled Bollywood film shoot. He said filming for a Sourav Ganguly biopic stopped the pitch being covered for eight hours in bright sunshine. The shoot took place four days before the August 20-23 match.
The Cricket Discipline Panel upheld the charge for breaching ECB pitch regulations. A 5,000 pound fine was also imposed. A further eight-point deduction is suspended until the end of the 2027 season.
Leicestershire had confirmed they would appeal the sanction. Chief executive Emma White said the club still intends to appeal the process behind the decision.
