Mohit Sharma to become CSK’s new bowling coach

Former India pacer Mohit Sharma is set to join Chennai Super Kings as the franchise's new bowling coach ahead of IPL 2027, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed to the Times of India.
"Mohit will join CSK as our new bowling coach. His name was recommended by our head coach Zaheer Khan," Viswanathan said. Mohit, 38, becomes the first major addition to the support staff assembled by Zaheer, who took over after Stephen Fleming's 18-year tenure ended.
Mohit replaces the outgoing bowling coach and brings deep CSK roots. He won the IPL Purple Cap in 2014 with 23 wickets for the franchise and played 48 IPL matches for CSK across four seasons.
For India, he played 26 ODIs and eight T20Is and was the joint third-highest wicket-taker at the 2015 World Cup under MS Dhoni. He retired from all cricket in December 2025 after featuring in IPL 2025.
The appointment matters because CSK have missed the playoffs in three straight seasons. A new-look coaching staff is the first visible step of the rebuild.
