India’s women compound archers won gold at the Archery World Cup Final on Wednesday, beating China 238-234 and equalling the world record in a thrilling final.

The victory in the compound women’s team event came in a high-pressure shootout, with the Indian trio holding their nerve against a strong Chinese side to match the world record score.

There was more good news in the mixed team event, where the Indian pair’s gold secured India’s quota place for compound archery at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

Compound archery will make its Olympic debut at LA28, making the quota particularly valuable for the Indian contingent.

The wins cap a strong season for Indian archery, which has been steadily building a world-class compound programme alongside its recurve tradition.

The Archery Association of India congratulated the teams, saying the results show India’s emergence as a genuine power in world archery, with young talent coming through at every level.
