Jahmyr Gibbs scored three touchdowns — two rushing, one receiving — including the go-ahead 11-yard reception with 2:25 left, lifting the Detroit Lions to a 31-24 win over the New York Jets at Ford Field, according to the AP.

Gibbs ran 20 times for 99 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns and caught 7 passes for 65 yards and 1 receiving touchdown, totaling 164 scrimmage yards. He is the first player in NFL history with 300 rushing yards, four rushing TDs, 150 receiving yards and two receiving TDs through three games. His scores moved him past Billy Sims into second in Lions franchise history, behind Barry Sanders.

The Jets rallied from a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit to tie it 24-24. Safety Chuck Clark sacked and stripped Geno Smith late, with Jack Campbell recovering, to seal it. The loss dropped the Jets to 1-2, while the Lions moved to 2-1.

"Gibbs hit another gear once we got him going in the second half," Lions coach Dan Campbell said. Gibbs added: "Anytime he's here, I've got to step up my game," referring to Sanders.

Gibbs's unprecedented three-game start cements him as the league's most explosive back heading into the heart of the season.
