Ganguly Named Delhi Capitals Coach as Agarkar Era Ends
Ajit Agarkar's tenure as chief selector has ended, and Sourav Ganguly will take over as Delhi Capitals head coach for IPL 2027, replacing Hemang Badani.
Agarkar's exit closes a chapter in Indian selection. Head coach Gautam Gambhir paid tribute to his contribution during the tenure.
Ganguly's appointment is a homecoming of sorts. The former India captain has coached and mentored in the IPL before and brings vast experience.
Delhi Capitals are banking on Ganguly to end their title drought. The franchise has reached finals but never lifted the trophy.
Badani's departure follows a review of the team's performance. The Capitals will also rejig their support staff ahead of the mega auction.
The moves signal a busy off-season for Indian cricket administration, with domestic and franchise roles being reshuffled.
Ganguly previously served as BCCI president and has mentored IPL sides. Delhi will hope his experience turns near-misses into a first title.
The franchise is expected to announce the full coaching staff soon.
