Djokovic Wins China Open at 39, Reaches 102 Titles

Novak Djokovic won the China Open on October 6, beating Alex de Minaur 7-6(3), 0-1 retired in the Beijing final. It was his seventh title at the tournament, where he is now 34-0.
The 102nd ATP title of Djokovic’s career puts him one behind Roger Federer’s 103. Only Jimmy Connors, with 109, has more.
At 39, Djokovic is the first man since Ken Rosewall in 1977 to win a tour-level title after turning 39. He has now won a title in 21 consecutive seasons.
De Minaur retired with a groin injury early in the second set. Djokovic had reached the final after a strange semifinal, where Daniil Medvedev was disqualified while trailing 7-5, 5-3.
The Serb also beat Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals. His unbeaten Beijing record stretches back to his tournament debut.
Djokovic shows no signs of slowing down. He has said he wants to keep playing as long as he can compete for the biggest titles.
