CAS to hear Senegal appeal over stripped AFCON title today

The Court of Arbitration for Sport will hear Senegal's appeal on October 8 over the decision that stripped the country of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title. The hearing takes place in Lausanne behind closed doors.
Senegal are contesting the Confederation of African Football's decision to declare Morocco champions. This came despite Senegal beating the hosts 1-0 after extra time in January's final in Rabat.
The final turned chaotic late in normal time. Senegal walked off the pitch for 14 minutes in protest after a penalty was awarded against them. Several players returned to the dressing room before play resumed.
Morocco failed to convert the spot kick, and Senegal scored the winner in extra time. But two months later, CAF's Appeal Board ruled that Senegal had forfeited the match by walking off, overturning the result and awarding Morocco a 3-0 victory.
Senegal lodged their appeal with CAS on March 25. They want to be reinstated as winners.
CAS said a decision will not come on the day of the hearing. The panel will start deliberations after the arguments conclude.
