Brazil hand India 4-0 defeat in historic Kolkata friendly

Brazil defeated India 4-0 in an international friendly at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on Saturday, in the first senior men's meeting between the two countries.
Estevao opened the scoring in the 28th minute, cutting in from the right and finishing with his left foot. Pedro doubled the lead in the 42nd minute to give the visitors a two-goal cushion at half-time.
Substitute Samuel Lino, the Flamengo winger, scored his first two senior international goals in the second half. He curled in the third in the 58th minute after an Indian defensive error and completed the scoring deep into stoppage time.
The match drew more than 51,400 spectators. India, ranked well below Brazil's fifth place in the FIFA rankings, contained the visitors for the first half-hour before quality told.
India head coach Khalid Jamil defended captain and goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, who was replaced at half-time by Prabhsukhan Singh Gill on his senior debut. "You cannot blame Gurpreet," Jamil said, calling it a collective failure.
Brazil were managed by Carlo Ancelotti and featured Vinicius Junior. India will face Uruguay at the same venue on October 6.
