Brazil beat Australia 4-2 in a friendly at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on Monday, closing their two-match tour of Australia with a win. The first friendly, in Townsville, had ended 1-1.

Vanderson opened the scoring in the third minute with his first international goal. Australia hit back through Alessandro Circati and Connor Metcalfe to lead 2-1 at the half-hour mark.

Raphinha levelled from the penalty spot just before half-time, but the Barcelona winger was substituted at the break with muscle discomfort in his right leg. Bruno Guimaraes headed home in the 69th minute before Vinicius Jr sealed the win with an 80th-minute penalty.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti made seven changes, fielding an entirely new defence. Endrick impressed, creating Guimaraes’s goal with a fine cross.

Brazil next play India in Kolkata on Saturday. Raphinha’s fitness will be assessed after his latest muscle problem, adding to concerns given his history of hamstring and thigh injuries.
