De Bruyne’s 200th Career Goal Fires Belgium Past Turkey

Belgium beat Turkey 3-0 in the Nations League at Liege on Friday. Kevin De Bruyne scored twice, reaching 200 and then 201 career goals in the victory.

De Bruyne opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a smart one-two with Johan Bakayoko. He curled home a beautiful second in the 59th minute from outside the box. The Manchester City star was the difference between the two sides.

Romelu Lukaku added the third in the 76th minute from a Kevin De Ketelaere cross. Bakayoko hit the woodwork twice and was unlucky not to score. Turkey, playing with a young side, failed to register a point from their first three games.

Belgium have now won two and lost one under coach Mark van Bommel. The result moves them to within one point of France at the top of the group. They face France at the Stade de France on Monday in a crucial fixture.

The win keeps Belgium in the hunt for the knockout stage. A positive result in Paris would put them in a strong position heading into the final group matches.
