Baloda’s Six Wickets Rock Australia U-19 in Ahmedabad

Left-arm spinner Tanmay Baloda claimed six wickets for 32 runs as India Under-19 bowled Australia Under-19 out for 174 on the opening day of the second Youth Test in Ahmedabad.

Baloda sent down 25 overs with 11 maidens and an economy rate of 1.28. He struck twice in quick succession in his early spell, trapping Eli Mind leg-before and having Neel Patel stumped, then returned to clean up the tail. Ayaan Akram supported him with two for 45, while Charlie Henderson top-scored for Australia with 37.

India elected to field first at the Narendra Modi Stadium B ground. At stumps, India were 38 for two, trailing by 136 runs. The four-day match runs from October 5 to 8.

Baloda, from Haryana, was a late addition to the multi-day squad after Bengal leg-spinner Rohit Yadav was withdrawn over discrepancies in his age documents. His performance on Monday strengthened India's position after Australia were reduced to 65 for six at one stage during the day.
