India beat Pakistan to keep Asian Games cricket gold

India have retained the Asian Games men’s cricket gold, beating Pakistan by 19 runs in the final. It is the team’s second straight title at the Games.
India posted 211 for 6 at the Korogi Sports Park on Saturday. Half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma, who made 61, and Tilak Varma, unbeaten on 51, powered the total.
Pakistan were restricted to 192 for 6 despite a brave 96 from Hasan Nawaz. The batter faced 50 balls and hit seven sixes and five fours before falling on the final ball.
Axar Patel was the pick of India’s bowlers with figures of 4-0-29-2. Washington Sundar also struck at a key moment to keep Pakistan behind the required rate.
The win continued India’s strong run in the tournament. India’s women’s team had already defended their gold earlier in the Games, making it a double celebration for Indian cricket.
The final drew a loud crowd of Indian supporters. The victory adds another chapter to one of cricket’s fiercest rivalries on the Asian stage.
