Neeru Dhanda to carry flag at Asian Games closing ceremony

Shooter Neeru Dhanda will carry the Indian flag at the closing ceremony of the Asian Games 2026 in Nagoya on Sunday.
The ceremony will be held at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium from 6 pm to 7:30 pm local time, which is 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm in India.
Dhanda was chosen after a memorable medal-winning campaign in trap shooting. Former shooter Anjali Bhagwat, India’s deputy chef de mission for the Games, conveyed the news to her.
At the opening ceremony on September 19, the flag-bearers were shooter Manu Bhaker and kabaddi player Pawan Sehrawat.
India closed its campaign with 85 medals: 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze, finishing fourth on the table. The final days brought golds in cricket, hockey, wrestling, archery and golf.
The Games were held across Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya from September 19 to October 4, with 495 Indian athletes competing in 36 sports.
