Ali Khan’s bizarre bouncer leaks five wides in Super60 semifinal

Canada's Super60 tournament produced one of the strangest moments of the cricket year on Saturday, when Ali Khan's bouncer to Kieron Pollard went over the boundary for five wides in the semifinal between Toronto Sixers and Vancouver Masters.
The incident came in the ninth over of the Sixers' innings at BC Place in Vancouver. Khan, bowling for Vancouver, dug in a short ball to Pollard that sailed over the West Indian's head, over wicketkeeper Tymal Mills, and clean over the boundary rope.
Under MCC Law 19.7, a ball that crosses the boundary without touching the bat or any fielder is signalled as five wides. The umpire raised both arms to confirm the ruling, and the scoreboard moved on.
Pollard was in destructive mood, finishing unbeaten on 40 off 16 balls with three sixes. The Sixers posted 130 for 4, and the Vancouver Masters managed only 121 for 7 in reply, giving the Sixers a nine-run win and a place in the final.
The tournament has already thrown up extremes. A day earlier, Suresh Raina was dismissed for a golden duck, the first ball of the competition. Pollard's five-wides cameo will sit alongside it in the Super60 highlight reel.
