AFL trade: Rowan Marshall to Geelong, pick 14 to St Kilda

Geelong and St Kilda have agreed on a deal sending Rowan Marshall to the Cats. The Saints will receive pick 14 in this year’s draft, while a future third-round pick in 2028 goes back to Geelong. The trade ends weeks of speculation about Marshall’s future. The deal was reported by AFL.com.au’s Josh Gabelich on Thursday during the league’s trade period coverage. Elsewhere in the trade news, Sydney list boss Chris Keane said there had been no trade request from star defender Nick Blakey. Keane said the club was confident Blakey would return next season, saying it would be “significantly challenging” to get a trade done given his long-term deal. Keane has been in touch with Blakey’s management. He said the club’s preference and expectation was that Blakey would be at the Swans next year. Melbourne’s list boss Tim Lamb also told trade radio that the Demons would not pursue the All-Australian defender. The AFL trade period continues with more deals expected.
