Trump Tells MS NOW Reporter to ‘Be Quiet’ in Press Clash

President Donald Trump told an MS NOW reporter to “be quiet” during a heated exchange on September 26. The clash came as he left the White House for a trip to Tennessee.
MS NOW correspondent Akayla Gardner asked whether Trump wanted only supportive outlets in the White House press pool. “No, no, no. I want real news, not fake news, like you,” Trump replied. When Gardner pressed him on tough questions, he cut her off. “Wait, wait, be quiet,” he said, raising his index finger.
The exchange followed a week of press fights. The White House barred CNN from traveling on Air Force One to cover Trump’s Tennessee trip. Last weekend, officials revoked the credentials of CNN, MS NOW and Politico. Trump called it a “ban on the free press.”
A federal judge temporarily restored access for the outlets on Thursday. But that evening, aides still blocked their reporters from covering Trump’s state dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Trump has repeatedly clashed with female reporters who ask him challenging questions in his second term.
