Trump creates Super Intelligence Force to lead federal AI push

US President Donald Trump announced the creation of a “Super Intelligence Force” to coordinate the federal government’s work on artificial intelligence. In a Truth Social post, Trump said Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton would lead the group, alongside Federal Trade Commission chair Andrew Ferguson, Pentagon official Emil Michael, and personnel chief Scott Kupor. The team will report directly to Trump and White House chief of staff Susie Wiles.
The move signals the administration’s intent to centralise AI policy across defence, intelligence, and regulatory agencies as the race toward advanced AI accelerates. The Wall Street Journal reported the group has been asked to deliver a strategy within 120 days. The announcement comes amid growing debate over AI safety, data centres, and the geopolitical contest for AI supremacy.
Critics have questioned whether the new body will overlap with existing agencies, but supporters say a single coordinating force will speed up decision-making in a fast-moving field.
