Rhode Island GOP Governor Candidate Misses Second Forum in a Week

Rhode Island Republican gubernatorial nominee Aaron Guckian has skipped a second voter forum in a week. He missed Friday’s Senior Agenda Coalition event, saying he was stuck in a Hertz rental car line at JFK airport on his way back from Florida.
Guckian flew out of the airport in Palm Beach at about 10am on Friday, his spokesman Mike Fahey said. At 3pm he was still waiting for a rental car in New York. The forum ran from 5 to 7pm in Warwick.
He also missed a Wednesday forum at Roger Williams University’s law school, organised by the Women’s Fund and the League of Women Voters. He went to Florida instead for the fundraiser.
Guckian admitted that Eric Trump, Lara Trump and Congressman Byron Donalds did not attend the fundraiser as promised. The campaign said it would ask for donor refunds.
His rivals showed up. Democrat Helena Foulkes and independent Ken Block attended the Wednesday forum and sparred over housing, energy and health care.
Rhode Island has not elected a Republican governor since 2006. A new poll has Foulkes leading Block 41 to 24 percent, with Guckian at 19.
