Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to a "Bhajan Clubbing" programme in Delhi has sparked a political row. Congress leaders have questioned the government's role in the event, while the BJP and Shiv Sena have defended it.

Modi attended the event at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Park on September 25 to mark the 110th birth anniversary of Bharatiya Jana Sangh leader Deendayal Upadhyaya. He was seen clapping and playing a tambourine-like instrument.

Congress MP Karamvir Singh Boudh said governments should not promote any one religion. "India is a country of diversity and different religions," he told IANS, calling the involvement "unconstitutional."

Priyank Kharge also took a dig, posting that Modi had time for "Bhajan Clubbing" but no time to answer questions on the Election Commission. BJP spokesperson CR Kesavan accused Congress of mocking India's bhajan and bhakti traditions.

Shiv Sena spokesperson Shaina NC called it a cultural and wellness initiative. The exchange is the latest in a long-running debate over the line between state and religion.
