75-year-old dies at CJP protest; Dipke announces Oct 10 Delhi march

A 75-year-old man died of a heart attack during the Cockroach Janta Party’s protest at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park on Friday. Police identified him as Gopalakrishna Subbaiya Pillai, a resident of Thane.
According to PTI, Pillai reached the venue around 4:30 pm and complained of severe chest pain half an hour later. He was rushed to a nearby hospital by friends and police personnel but died during treatment.
Hours after the protest, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke announced a march to Delhi on October 10 if Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar does not resign. He said supporters from across India would gather at Jantar Mantar.
The party demands the CEC’s resignation over alleged voter deletions during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. It also wants the SIR process paused, the January 2025 voter list restored and the 2023 law governing the Election Commission repealed. Police had denied permission for the Mumbai gathering, but thousands still turned up.
