Delhi Police deny permission for CJP’s October 10 protest

Delhi Police have denied permission for a protest planned by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and the All India Students’ Association at Jantar Mantar on October 10. The demonstration seeks the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
Police cited delayed notice and procedural noncompliance for the refusal. Protest organisers have questioned the transparency of the voter-roll revision and raised concerns about its impact on eligible voters.
With large gatherings expected, security has been tightened across Central Delhi. Police have also proposed entry and exit restrictions at 57 Metro stations from Friday night to manage possible crowds.
The protest plan follows days of opposition demonstrations in the capital over the Election Commission’s functioning. Leaders from the INDIA bloc were detained earlier this week during a related protest.
The standoff adds to the political heat around the poll panel. Whether the CJP goes ahead without permission will decide how tense Saturday gets.
