Net FDI hits five-year monthly high of $7.3 billion in July

India’s net foreign direct investment touched a five-year monthly high of about $7.3 billion in July 2026, according to data reported by the Reserve Bank of India. Gross FDI inflows in the month were around $14.6 billion.
The July figure marks the strongest monthly net inflow in five years, pointing to steady investor interest in India despite global economic uncertainty. The RBI’s monthly bulletin noted that India’s external sector remains resilient amid global risks.
For the April to July 2026 period, net FDI stood at $13.4 billion, up 38 percent from the same period last year, according to the data. The jump suggests foreign investors continue to see India as a stable long-term bet.
Analysts say the inflows reflect confidence in India’s growth story and its reform path. They also point to improving global risk appetite as a supporting factor.
The RBI will release the next set of figures in its upcoming bulletin. Economists will watch whether the strong trend continues through the second half of the fiscal year.
