Gold prices in Delhi slipped below Rs 1.5 lakh per 10 grams on Tuesday, the first time in two months the yellow metal has breached that level.

The 24-karat price fell Rs 1,370 in a day to Rs 14,895 per gram — or Rs 1,48,950 per 10 grams — while 22-karat gold dropped to Rs 13,655 per gram (Rs 1,36,550 per 10 grams), according to market data.

Traders attributed the fall to weaker global cues and profit-booking after a strong rally that had kept prices elevated through August and September. Festive season demand is expected to keep physical buying steady despite the dip.

Analysts said the correction could be short-lived if global uncertainties persist, advising buyers to watch international trends before making large purchases. Jewellers reported a slight uptick in footfall as prices eased. The festival and wedding season typically lifts gold demand from October, and dealers expect bargain buying to support prices in the near term. For investors, analysts said the dip offers a buying opportunity, though they cautioned against expecting a quick rebound to recent highs.
