GIFT City Adds New IFSC Entrants in September

Gujarat’s GIFT City has gained a fresh set of corporate entrants this month, as more companies set up units in India’s first International Financial Services Centre. The new arrivals underline the financial hub’s growing pull.
Mirae Asset Capital Markets launched Mirae Asset GIFT Sharekhan on September 17 after receiving a broker-dealer licence from the IFSC Authority. The unit will offer international investment services to Indian investors looking for global exposure.
Sun Pharma incorporated a treasury centre at GIFT City on September 8 with an initial investment of Rs 9.5 crore. Earlier in the month, state-run miner NMDC set up NMDC Global IFSC Limited, marking its entry into the IFSC framework.
GIFT City now hosts more than 1,000 operational entities. Officials say the steady flow of banks, funds and corporates is turning the Gandhinagar hub into a serious gateway between Indian capital and global markets. Industry watchers say tax breaks and simpler rules are the main draw. More fund managers and banks are expected to announce GIFT City units in the coming months.
