CBI Books Mumbai Firm in ₹93.44-Crore Bank Fraud Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a 93.44-crore-rupee bank fraud case against Mumbai-based Hanjer Biotech Energies, its directors and guarantors.

The case was registered on September 30 on a complaint from Punjab National Bank’s SAM branch in Mumbai. CBI teams searched multiple premises linked to the firm’s directors in Mumbai on Friday and seized bank and property documents.

The accused allegedly entered into a criminal conspiracy and obtained a term loan of 135 crore rupees using invoices from a related party. The funds were then allegedly diverted for purposes other than those sanctioned, causing a wrongful loss of about 93.44 crore rupees to the bank.

They have been booked for criminal conspiracy, cheating and offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Unknown public servants and private persons are also named as accused.

The CBI said the investigation is continuing to establish the full extent of the conspiracy and trace the end use of the diverted funds.
