The Nandan Nilekani-led panel on exam reforms has consulted former ISRO chief K. Radhakrishnan, as it races to finalise recommendations on securing national entrance tests.

The committee was set up after the NEET paper-leak controversy exposed gaps in how the National Testing Agency conducts high-stakes exams. Radhakrishnan previously headed a government panel on the same issue, making his inputs significant.

Reports said the panel is expected to submit an interim report by the end of September. Its mandate covers exam security, question-paper handling and the use of technology to prevent leaks.

The consultations signal that the government wants the reforms grounded in the earlier Radhakrishnan committee’s findings. Students and parents are watching closely for concrete changes.

With crores of aspirants affected, the panel’s report could reshape how NEET and other national exams are run. An announcement is expected soon. Any overhaul would affect lakhs of students who appear for medical and engineering entrance tests each year.
