Yellow alert for hot, humid weather in Konkan districts

Maharashtra is seeing a break in monsoon activity, with dry weather expected across most regions and scorching heat in some areas on October 5.

In Konkan, hot and humid weather is likely at some places in Palghar, Mumbai, Thane, Ratnagiri and Raigad districts, according to the Meteorological Department. A yellow alert has been issued for these districts. Dry weather is likely in Sindhudurg.

In western Maharashtra, dry weather is expected in Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli and Solapur, including the ghat areas.

In Marathwada, conditions will remain dry in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Parbhani, Jalna, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded and Latur. No alert has been issued for the Vidarbha districts of Akola, Amravati, Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur and Yavatmal.

Delhi recorded a maximum of 37 degrees Celsius at Ayanagar on Sunday, followed by 36.4 degrees at Safdarjung. The capital is also experiencing a dry spell as the monsoon retreats. A yellow alert calls for general awareness and is one level below the more serious orange and red alerts. Residents in flagged districts should limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours and stay hydrated.
