IndiGo Tickets Costlier From Today on Fuel Charges

IndiGo flights are getting costlier from Tuesday, October 6, as the airline raises fuel charges on all new domestic and international bookings.

Domestic passengers will pay an extra Rs 375 for flights up to 500 km, Rs 600 for 501 to 1,000 km, Rs 900 for 1,001 to 1,500 km, Rs 1,150 for 1,501 to 2,000 km and Rs 1,300 for longer flights. International charges will range from Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000 by destination.

IndiGo said aviation turbine fuel prices rose more than 14 per cent month-on-month, taking costs to among the highest in a decade. The airline blamed volatility after geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

The carrier said the hike was measured and below the full rise in its fuel costs, to limit the impact on passengers. Bookings made before October 6 are not affected.

Other airlines are likely to follow. Flying this festive season is set to cost more for millions of passengers.
