IMD Issues Rain, Thunderstorm Alerts Across 10 States

The India Meteorological Department has issued rain and thunderstorm alerts for several states, including Kerala, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Konkan, Goa and Madhya Maharashtra.
Monsoon showers are expected to continue over parts of the Northeast and southern states over the next few days. Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh are expected to remain dry.
Delhi and adjoining areas will see dry, sunny weather on Sunday with no significant rainfall expected. Isolated to scattered monsoon showers may reach Delhi from October 6 to 7.
Uttar Pradesh is expected to stay dry on Sunday with no weather warning till October 9. Odisha will see scattered rainfall, with monsoon showers continuing till October 7.
Uttarakhand may see rain from October 5, with good showers likely on October 7. Himachal Pradesh is expected to get rain between October 5 and 8.
The alerts reflect the monsoon's messy retreat: active systems over the Bay of Bengal are keeping the east and south wet even as the southwest monsoon withdraws from the north.
Farmers in eastern states should guard harvested crops against sudden downpours. The IMD advises residents to track three-hourly nowcasts before travel, as gusty winds can reach 65 to 70 kmph during thunderstorms.
