Bihar, Andhra Pradesh Push Ahead With Big Solar Tenders

Two big solar moves were announced this week. In Bihar, the Solar Energy Corporation of India has floated an operations and maintenance tender for a 60 MW solar project in Gaya.

In Andhra Pradesh, NTPC Renewable Energy has issued an EPC tender for a 1 GW solar project at Kambadur. The Kambadur bid is among the larger single-location solar tenders floated this year.

The tenders add to the pipeline of solar capacity being added across states as India pushes toward its renewable energy targets. Gujarat alone aims to cross 100 GW of renewable capacity by 2030.

The Gaya project marks Bihar’s growing presence on the solar map, while the Kambadur project will add significant capacity to Andhra Pradesh’s green energy portfolio.

Industry watchers say the steady flow of tenders from central agencies like SECI and NTPC Renewable Energy is helping keep solar tariffs competitive and giving domestic manufacturers a clearer demand outlook for modules and equipment.
