IMD Orange Alert for Uttarakhand, UP, Rajasthan on Oct 8-9

The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan for October 8 and 9.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in these states, an IMD scientist said. The alert covers a two-day window.
Delhi received moderate rainfall over the last two days. Safdarjung and Lodhi Road recorded 25 mm while Palam got 4 mm in the morning spell.
All 12 Delhi stations received rain. The downpour caused waterlogging in several areas and hit traffic movement.
Traffic police advised commuters to avoid waterlogged stretches. The New Rohtak Road carriageway near Anand Parbat was affected.
Uttar Pradesh saw the heaviest rain in the last two days. Kheri and Gorakhpur recorded between 120 mm and 240 mm.
The rain has cooled Delhi and improved air quality. Temperatures fell after days of humid weather.
No significant rainfall is expected in Delhi from October 10. Light drizzle may continue, the IMD said.
