Delhi launches AI pollution command centre ahead of winter

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on October 1 inaugurated an AI-based Integrated Command and Control Centre to monitor the capital’s air pollution in real time.
The centre, set up at the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s IT Park in Shastri Park, belongs to the Delhi Pollution Control Committee. It was launched under the Seva Sankalp Campaign.
The centre will track pollution sources around the clock. AI cameras will monitor more than 700 construction sites larger than 500 square metres. GPS systems will track road-sweeping machines and pollution-control towers.
It brings complaints, air quality data and field-inspection inputs onto one dashboard. When PM10 levels rise at a monitored site, alerts go to the department concerned and the site owner.
The Chief Minister said the core principle is Detect, Analyse, Act, Verify. Rapid-action teams called Vayu Rakshaks, with GPS-enabled vehicles and body cameras, will work across 39 divisions.
The launch comes ahead of the winter action plan, which runs from November 1 to February 2027. Delhi’s air quality usually worsens sharply in winter.
