The Patna Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow alert for 26 districts of Bihar for October 8.

Thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds are expected in the next 24 hours.

The districts under alert are Buxar, Bhojpur, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Arwal, Jehanabad, Gaya, Patna, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Nawada, Jamui, Munger, Banka, Bhagalpur, Khagaria, Begusarai, Supaul, Saharsa, Madhepura, Purnia, Araria, Kishanganj and Katihar.

Wind speeds could reach 30 to 40 kmph. Isolated rainfall is also possible in parts of the state.

The weather activity is expected to reduce on October 9. The alert will then cover only six districts: Khagaria, Munger, Lakhisarai, Jamui, Banka and Bhagalpur.

Most parts of north Bihar are expected to see normal weather during the period.

Maximum temperatures across Bihar are expected to stay between 32 and 35 degrees Celsius over the next 24 hours.

The department said weather would normalise from October 9 in most areas. Until then, residents are advised to take precautions during thunderstorms and avoid open areas when lightning is reported.
