Air conditioners, LED TVs, washing machines and other appliances are set to get costlier from October 1, with leading manufacturers planning price hikes of 5 to 8 per cent. This will be the industry’s third round of price increases in 2026, PTI reported.

Makers are passing on rising input costs — copper, aluminium, steel and crude-linked plastics — along with higher freight charges and currency volatility linked to the West Asia crisis. Blue Star managing director B Thiagarajan told PTI his company had already raised AC and deep-freezer prices by 5-8 per cent, its third hike this year.

Blue Star, Godrej Appliances, Haier, Daikin and Super Plastronics have confirmed increases ranging from 4 to 10 per cent across categories, while LG and Bosch Home Comfort have raised AC prices by around 5 per cent. Godrej’s Kamal Nandi said commodity prices had risen 8-10 per cent since the previous revision, while Haier’s NS Satish flagged copper at $14,500 a tonne, up from $8,000-9,000 last year.

Makers expect limited impact on festive demand, as dealers stocked inventory at older prices through August and September.
