India's national telemedicine service eSanjeevani has crossed 50 crore teleconsultations, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday. The platform recorded a cumulative 50,00,92,730 consultations, crossing the milestone on September 15. The ministry called it the world's largest government-run telemedicine operation. The network spans over 1.42 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandir spokes, 19,473 medical hubs and 901 online OPDs, with 2,41,923 registered healthcare providers across all 36 states and union territories. It handles 2.5 to 3 lakh consultations daily, with a single-day peak of 6,30,315, and works in 15 languages including English and 14 Indian languages. Women account for 57.14 per cent of usage, while 40.15 per cent of consultations go to people aged 46 and above, including 16.25 per cent to senior citizens over 60. The platform now integrates with the Emergency Response Support System-112 and uses an AI-powered clinical decision support system. Patient-to-doctor teleconsultations have also begun at AIIMS Jodhpur, Jammu and Patna.
