Delhi reported 62 new dengue cases in the past week, down from 87 the week before, as Union Health Minister JP Nadda reviewed dengue preparedness in the capital, according to TheHealthSite.

The city has logged 121 dengue cases in September — its highest monthly count of 2026 — taking the year’s total to 432, according to Municipal Corporation of Delhi data. September accounts for more than a quarter of this year’s cases, with West Delhi the worst-hit zone.

At the review meeting, officials were told to intensify vector control, strengthen mosquito-free hospital facilities and step up public awareness against dengue, malaria and chikungunya. Nadda stressed coordination between the Centre, states and local bodies amid prolonged monsoon rains.

Malaria cases have also risen to 183 this year, including 64 in September, with no malaria deaths reported. Dengue counts remain below last year’s 619 in the same period. September and October are the peak transmission months, health officials say.
