Cambridge Cognition joins NHS Alzheimer’s study

Cambridge Cognition is joining BEAD-PC, a UK study led by Imperial College London testing earlier Alzheimer's diagnosis in primary care. The study will combine the company's CANTAB digital cognitive assessments with blood-based biomarkers. Launched in June 2026 and running for 15 months, it aims to recruit 500 people with memory complaints or early cognitive decline across North West London. GPs will refer eligible patients to dedicated assessment centres for digital testing and blood sampling. Nearly one million people in the UK live with dementia, yet about a third of cases in England remain undiagnosed, and patients live with symptoms for an average of 3.5 years before diagnosis. Chief executive Rob Baker said the study could shorten the route to appropriate treatment and improve clinical decision-making. Professor Lefkos Middleton of Imperial said the focus is on implementing the combined approach at scale in routine NHS care. BEAD-PC is part of the Davos Alzheimer's Collaborative healthcare preparedness programme, which also runs in the US, Germany, the Netherlands and Japan.
