The trailer of “Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam” was launched in Mumbai on Monday, with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis attending the event at CSMT.

The film stars Rajkummar Rao as Ujjwal Nikam, the public prosecutor known for high-profile terror cases including the 26/11 Mumbai attacks trial. It is directed by Avinash Arun Dhaware and produced by Maddock Films.

The trailer traces Nikam’s journey from a small-town lawyer to one of India’s most recognised prosecutors, spotlighting the courtroom battles that defined his career and the personal cost of taking on dangerous cases.

“Prahaar” releases in theatres on October 16, 2026. Fadnavis praised the film for bringing the story of a legal stalwart to the big screen, calling Nikam an inspiration for young lawyers. Nikam, who retired as special public prosecutor, became a household name during the trial of 26/11 accused Ajmal Kasab. The film’s makers said extensive research went into recreating the courtroom proceedings, with Rao spending time with Nikam to prepare for the role.
