Pattinson Says His Batman Would Not Fit Into Gunn’s DCU

Robert Pattinson says it would be 'tough' for his version of Batman to exist inside James Gunn's DC Universe. The actor made the comments in a recent interview with LADbible, addressing long-running speculation about a crossover.
'I think it would be kind of tough to have this version of Bruce outside of that world,' Pattinson said. He pointed to the long shooting schedules for Matt Reeves' films and the dark, immersive tone that, in his words, 'gets inside you'.
Pattinson described months spent almost entirely in darkness during filming, saying the mood and the low light affected him after the shoot. His first outing in the role came with 'The Batman' in 2022, and he returns in 'The Batman Part II', now dated February 18, 2028.
The tonal gap matters because Gunn's DCU has taken a brighter turn. His 'Superman' arrived in 2025 with a lighter touch, and DC Studios is developing a separate Batman for 'The Brave and the Bold' instead of folding in Pattinson's version.
Fans hoping to see Pattinson share the screen with Gunn's heroes will have to wait: for now, the two continuities stay firmly separate.
