October 2026 is packed with big releases across languages, from Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 to courtroom and period dramas.

Jailer 2 arrives on October 15. Rajinikanth returns as retired jailer Muthuvel Pandian, also known as Tiger, in one of the biggest South Indian releases of the month.

October 16 brings three films. Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story stars Rajkummar Rao as the renowned lawyer who prosecuted 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Kasab. Nayi Naveli, headlined by Yami Gautam, is a fantasy family comedy with supernatural horror elements. Ranbaali pairs Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna in a Telugu period drama set between 1854 and 1878 in Rayalaseema.

October 23 has Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar, Luv Ranjan’s romantic comedy about second chances in love, with a fresh ensemble cast. Ayushmann Khurrana’s Udta Teer, postponed from its earlier date, also lands on October 23. Jackie Shroff’s Kaali Kheti releases the same day.

Why it matters: with the festive season in full swing, October is traditionally a strong box-office month. The mix of star vehicles and genre films gives audiences plenty of choice.
