The trailer of Yami Gautam Dhar’s horror comedy Nayyi Navelli will be unveiled in Mumbai on Tuesday, September 30, with the makers planning a grand welcome for the actor involving 250 dhol players.

The film, produced by Amazon MGM Studios India in association with Aanand L Rai, is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 16, ahead of the festive season.

Yami, who won the National Award for Article 370, plays a character who reportedly arrives at a mysterious new neighbourhood, with the comedy arising from the building’s peculiar residents.

The trailer launch event is expected to draw a large gathering, and the makers have turned it into a celebration befitting the film’s small-town horror comedy setting.

Nayyi Navelli will face competition at the box office in the Diwali period, but horror comedies have found a reliable audience in recent years. Yami has had a strong run with content-driven films, and expectations are high that she carries another successful outing this festive season.
