Lionsgate Announces Saw 11 With New Director

Lionsgate has announced a new Saw film, the eleventh in the horror franchise. Mike P. Nelson will direct.
Nelson directed “Wrong Turn” and “Silent Night, Deadly Night.” He will work from a script by Gregory Weidman and Geoff Tock. Franchise creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell return as producers alongside Jason Blum.
Wan directed the original “Saw” in 2004. “Making the original Saw was a defining experience for me,” he said. He praised Nelson’s “raw, distinctive filmmaking voice.”
The series will continue its existing story rather than rebooting, Lionsgate said. The last film, “Saw X,” opened in 2023. A planned eleventh film had stalled for years amid delays and producer disagreements.
Lionsgate teased the news on X with the Jigsaw puppet on its tricycle and a shot of an “Untitled Saw” script crediting Nelson.
No release date or cast has been announced. Nelson’s next film, “Beware Boiuna,” opens in theatres next month.
Horror fans have waited years for the games to continue. Now they finally will.
