Kalki 2 to resume regular shooting in mid-October

Director Nag Ashwin has confirmed that Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 will resume regular shooting in mid-October 2026, with filming expected to wrap by mid-2027 and a theatrical release targeted for 2028. Speaking to Variety India, Ashwin said the team now has call sheets for all key actors, including Prabhas, after waiting on his dates. Individual scenes with Kamal Haasan and Amitabh Bachchan were shot earlier this year. The sequel to the 2024 sci-fi epic will see Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan return, with no new cast additions planned. Ashwin said the team is building a larger world by exploring different stories and bringing them together. The first film was a massive box-office success and won two honours at the 72nd National Film Awards, for best popular film providing wholesome entertainment and best production design. 'The box office result was a validation,' Ashwin said, adding that children still asking about Part 2 keeps the team motivated.
